I am once again completing my Year in Books meme! I had so much fun with this meme last year and I really enjoyed going back and reviewing my answers again as I prepared for this year's reflection. So without further ado...

The last book you finished in 2025:
Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare

The first book you will finish (or did finish!) in 2026:
Probably The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni. I read like 90% of it over the summer but got distracted and just need to go back and finish it up.

How many books read in 2025
30!

Lots more (including some hot takes) under the cut! )

Challenge:

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

I'm going to try to finish this before the end of Three Weeks for Dreamwidth so we're going for 5 books a day for four days.

The first five books:

Book cover of Goodbye, Things by Fumio Sasaki Book cover of The Baby-Sitters' Summer Vacation by Ann M. Martin Book cover of The Defining Decade by Meg Jay Book cover of Westmark by Lloyd Alexander Book cover of The Bracelet by Yoshiko Uchida and Joanna Yardley

I didn't initially intend to have a color theme but they fit so nicely together!

I made a few 2019 book-related resolutions, so I thought I'd share them here!

  1. Finish reading all the series that I've started and then put down

  2. My main resolution! I have a bunch of series that I've read a few books in, but haven't finished completely. I'd like to get a few of them wrapped up, because I'm a completionist when it comes to reading and I don't like having so many loose threads! Some of the series are:

    • The Rai-Kirah trilogy by Carol Berg (1 book left)

    • The Alchemy Wars Trilogy by Ian Tregillis (1 book left)

    • A Land Fit for Heroes by Richard K. Morgan (1 book left)

    • The Chronicles of Tornor by Elizabeth A. Lynn (2 books left)

    • Warchild series by Karin Lowachee (2 books left)

    • The Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling (3 books left)

  3. Read books that I already own

  4. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but I do really desperately need to clear out some space on my bookshelves.

  5. Finish 2019 with my TBR pile smaller than it was at the beginning of the year

  6. My TBR (as determined by Goodreads) was at 134 at the beginning of 2019. My goal is to be diligent about reading things that have been languishing on there for a while. Hopefully by the end of the year my list will be significantly shorter than it was at the beginning. One of my chief reasons for wanting to do this is to have more flexibility in reading new releases as they come out (without feeling guilty about neglecting all the things I've already committed myself to reading - and yes I know that I have the freedom to read whatever I want and don't need to feel guilty but I like making goals and sticking to them).

So, that's it! Do you have any reading goals for this year?
