Friday Five - Better Late Than Never!
Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 10:23 am1) What is the first song you remember from your childhood?
I remember two lullabies that my parents would sing to me: Hush, Little Baby and Swing Low Sweet Chariot
2) What is the first music you purchased with your own money?
Growing up in the Napster era, I didn't buy a lot of music as a teen. The first thing I remember actually buying at the store (RIP Borders) was Rufus Wainwright's first album when I was 14.
3) What's a piece of music that you know by heart?
I have a huge repertoire of lyrics and melodies that I "know" in a sense. I can't actually sing them, but I could recite them. Mostly folk music and broadway. Probably my favorite ballad that I've memorized is Lord Bateman (based on Child Balland #53). It's a really beautiful song, and a great story too!
4) What's a song that makes you turn off the music right away?
Who Let the Dogs Out by the Baja Men
5) And why?
Does this need an explanation? It gets caught in my head and I really, really don't want to be mentally barking at myself for the rest of the day.
Also, it's awful.
