I love movies, so this is a great question set for me!

1. Have you ever had a movie both totally captivate and complete confuse you?

Oh my, yes! I especially loved and was confused by Memento. One of the things I love about it is that I can re-watch it and find new details that I missed on previous viewings.

But the most-captivating-and-confusing-movie-of-all-time award surely has to go to Primer. It's a fascinating look at the logistics of time travel, and it's also really beautifully shot. But I still have no fucking clue what happened in that film.

2. When watching a movie, do you prefer things all laid out or to have to 'hunt for your own clues' along the way?

I think both can be done in very satisfying ways. If a movie is more the "hunt for clues" variety, I think it has more re-watch potential.

3. Do you want an ultimate ending to your movie or do you prefer to have it open for conjecture and discussion.

Oh wow, again I think both are great when done well. Inception is my favorite open-ended film. When I saw it in the theater the entire audience collectively gasped out loud when the screen went dark at the end. It was amazing. But sometimes I really hate open-ended stories. I think I'm in the minority of people who didn't like No Country For Old Men *at all*. I don't like when the answer to "what was it about?" is something like "life doesn't always make sense, it isn't always about something". Ugh, ok fine. But this isn't real life, it's a movie and I want you to tell me a damn story.

4. Do you talk during a movie (preferably one in your home, not in the theatre)?
No way! Unless I'm by myself, then I sometimes react out loud. :P

5. Have you ever seen a blockbuster movie and not get what was so great about it?
I already mentioned No Country For Old Men, so yeah. And I'm sure there are more. Most movies I've seen lately have been very meh. The last awesome movie I saw was probably Atomic Blonde, but before that it was mostly blockbuster superhero movies that were very underwhelming.

I have to admit I wasn't in love with that movie (No country...) either. I just didn't get it, but it's one of my hubby's favorites. Go figure.
